Bavinger House Still Standing
An article from the Daily Oklahoman today shows photographs of the unique Norman home still standing- albeit in very poor condition. The Bavinger House was designed by Bruce Goff during his stint at the University of Oklahoma School of Architecture.
Back in 2011 rumors circulated the house was damaged by a storm. Then Bob Bavinger, the current owner, claimed he had leveled the historic spiral building. Police were even called out after a TV crew heard gunshots when they tried to investigate.
OU architecture professor Bob Goins has surveyed the current condition of the Bavinger House. The roof and its support spire are completely gone. He believes that restoration is "theoretically possible but expensive."
